Hello all! My hometown has one of the best Mexican food restaurants, Tacos Jalisco. This restaurant specializes in authentic Mexican food, including street tacos and massive bean & meat burritos. Their salsa that tops off their tacos is spicy, adding the necessary heat to the simple meat, onion and cilantro filling upon two small corn tortillas. This salsa is a take on the salsa I grew up enjoying.
Tomato Sauce Salsa
2 Jalapeño peppers
2 Serrano peppers
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup water
4 Green Onions sliced
1/2 bunch of Cilantro – washed and chopped
1 can (8oz) of Tomato Sauce or 8oz of Homemade Tomato Sauce
Boil the Jalapeño and Serrano peppers until fork can be easily inserted, do not cook too much. Remove stem and seeds.
In a blender, blend cooked jalapeños, garlic powder, pepper, salt and water for about 30 seconds.
Pour into bowl, then add sliced green onions, chopped cilantro and tomato sauce. Test out the salsa. If it is too spicy, add tomato sauce until you reach desired heat. Serve with your favorite chips or as a condiment.
